Visitors are allowed to enter the garden to enjoy the stroll. Leaving the hotel and go right and cross the Benkei-bashi. Turn right at Akasakamitsuke intersection and go straight the Aoyama Street. Toyokawainari Tokyo Betsuin LinkIcon  is on the right just before the Akasaka Keisatusho-mae intersection. It is the opposite side of the Akasaka Imperial Property we have walked a while ago. Soon, we will get to the busy Aoyama 1-chome intersection. Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama LinkIcon  stands diagonally across from you. We will take a break at the café in the building and it will be the final spot for todays tour. LinkIcon Hotel New Otani Tokyo “Japanese Garden”

A moment of repose in the garden with a 400-year history in the heart of Tokyo

One of the great enchantments of Hotel New Otani Tokyo is its Japanese style garden. It was created 400 years ago as Kiyomasa Kato’s suburban residence garden on an amazing scale of about 40,000㎡ land in the center of metropolis. It had in the past almost been in the property of a foreign landowner, but Yonetaro Otani, the founder of the Hotel New Otani Tokyo, had stopped the negotiation and bought the garden himself. In 1964, on the occasion of opening of the Olympics in Tokyo, the hotel was built on the land on the request of the Japanese government.Surrounded by the outer moat of Edo Castle, the garden features ponds, waterfall, ancient trees, stone garden, Japanese tea-ceremony room as well as variety of flowers and foliage. You can enjoy the beautiful change of the garden from season to season. It is unbelievable to be enfolded in the quiet ambience in the heart of Tokyo. It is one of the famous gardens in Tokyo and the garden-view rooms are always popular at all times. There are four restaurants in the garden where you can dine and enjoy the garden view. Visitors are welcome to stroll in the garden.

The waterfall is the symbol of this garden and is lighted up at night beautifully.

Seasonal change seen in the garden is amazing. The trees in the garden are colored beautifully in autumn.

“The Main” of Hotel New Otani Tokyo is the landmark of Kioicho.

You can go out to the garden from the banquet floor.

Garden is well taken care and the vermilion-lacquered bridge over the ponds and the stone garden adds the graciousness of the beauty.

Some precious stone lanterns from Edo period are seen in the garden.

Statue of Yonetaro Otani, the founder of the hotel. Thanks to his dedication for preserving this beautiful garden.
